This section lists articles and reports regarding long-term care for ourselves and our loved ones. Long-term care is a subject that too few take into consideration until it is too late. With soaring health care costs in the United States and life expectancy lengthening, insurance to cover our care when we are no longer able to care for ourselves is an option that is really too important not to investigate. Consideration must also be given to parents. Do they have enough assets to ensure they will be well cared for, whether at home with live-in or part-time care givers or in an assisted living facility, without their children having to assume the financial burden of what may turn out to be an extended period of time? Do we, ourselves, have enough so that we will not have to depend on our children for our care? The series aims to inform and educate, as well as introduce some options that are available. |
