FAWCO relies on the work of dedicated volunteers who provide experience, skills and hard work in numerous positions. The FAWCO Board is nominated and voted upon by Member Clubs, while the other positions are either appointed or filled voluntarily.

Member Club Support
Member Club Support is one of FAWCO’s four pillars and the cornerstone of FAWCO’s activities. As a federation of independent associations, FAWCO would not exist without its Member Clubs. In that way, all volunteers support FAWCO Member Clubs by providing information and motivating Clubs to get involved.
Special Positions
Reporting to the President are the
- Parliamentarian: Ensures that Board meetings are conducted according to proper procedure; maintains and updates the Administrative Guidelines.
- Assistant Treasurer: Assists the Board Treasurer with FAWCO accounts.
- Counselors' Coordinator: Liaises between FAWCO Counselors (Past Presidents) and the FAWCO Board.
Communications Team
Reporting to the First Vice President, the Communications Team keeps the channels of communication open between FAWCO and Member Clubs as well as with the public.
- Advertising and Sponsorship Manager: Invites a few, select sponsors who can offer a valuable service or product to our members to advertise with FAWCO.
- Documents Manager: Keeps track of all important and ongoing FAWCO written resources.
- Digital Media Chair: Supports social and digital media communication for FAWCO.
- Social Media Chair: Schedules and posts FAWCO news through our social media channels.
- Twitter Manager: Keeps members in the know through Twitter updates.
- Inspiring Women Editor: Writes and creates the quarterly online magazine featuring articles about FAWCO women around the world.
Web Team
This team maintains FAWCO’s primary means of communication, the website, so that members from around the world and the general public can access the latest information about FAWCO. The Web Team reports to the First Vice President.
- Web Manager: Assumes overall responsibility for all technical aspects of the FAWCO website.
- Website Content Administrator: Supports and trains the website editors and manages the content on the FAWCO website.
- Website Registration Manager: Processes requests for user accounts on the FAWCO website.
- Web Hosting Coordinator: Oversees FAWCO’s Web Hosting services and responds to Member Clubs’ queries and requests regarding Web Hosting.
Member Clubs Team
Reporting to the Second Vice President, the Member Clubs Team makes sure that FAWCO stays connected to the Regions and their Clubs.
- Regional Coordinators: Each coordinator supports the FAWCO Reps in her region to do their best, strengthens connections among clubs, and facilitates communications between clubs, the 2nd VP, and the FAWCO Board. There is an RC for each of the 10 regions.
- Club Presidents Coordinator: Acts as a liaison to establish and maintain communication between Club Presidents and FAWCO as well as among the Club Presidents themselves.
- Club Workshops Coordinator: Aims to raise awareness, share information and empower clubs to take full advantage of the FAWCO experience.
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Chair: Responsible for leading the DEIB discussion within FAWCO as well as identifying strategies and actions our members can take to eliminate conscious and unconscious barriers to inclusion within FAWCO and our member organizations.
- FAWCO Under 40 Chair: Organizes virtual Happy Hours for all ages on topics requested by the younger generation of FAWCO Members.
- Membership Committee Chair: Assists applicants for FAWCO membership and works with the FAWCO President in locating and recruiting new Member Clubs.
Administrative Committees
Reporting to the President, unless otherwise noted, the Administrative Committees allow the organization to function smoothly.
- Archives Committee Chair: Maintains the printed and/or electronic archival records of all FAWCO business. This position reports to the Board Secretary.
- Finance Committee Chair: Acts as a resource for the Treasurer by reviewing and suggesting possible revisions to the budget as well as presenting a proposed budget.
- Nominating Committee Chair: Operates in the year preceding a Biennial Conference and selects candidates for the positions of the FAWCO Officers.
- Resolutions and Recommendations Chair: Operates in the year preceding a Biennial Conference and drafts the R&Rs which are generally influenced by current world problems, current concerns of American citizens abroad and current problems faced by women everywhere. They are considered to be guidelines for FAWCO and Member Club action over the next two-year period.
US Issues
US Liaison & US Issues Committees
Reporting to the President, the US Liaison: coordinates FAWCO’s work with other overseas Americans' advocacy organizations and represents FAWCO’s positions in Washington during Overseas Americans Week and when legislation is drafted or introduced that directly affects Americans living and working overseas.
US Issues Committees, reporting to the US Liaison, bring important and timely information to the attention of FAWCO Members.
- Citizenship Committee Chair: Provides and distributes the most recent information about the US citizenship rights of Americans living abroad and their families.
- Tax and Banking Committee Chair: Keeps the membership updated about their US tax responsibilities as well as monitors overseas banking difficulties and reports to members about the various options available to them.
- US Voting Chair: Works to ensure we are able to cast our votes and make them count by encouraging and assisting US citizens overseas to participate in federal elections every two years by providing information and training to volunteers in Member Clubs, and help with publicity.
Global Issues
UN Liaison & UN Reps
Reporting to the President, the UN Liaison leads a team of FAWCO UN Representatives in Geneva, New York, Vienna and Athens and writes the quarterly UN Liaison Bulletin.
The UN Team disseminates information about the UN to FAWCO. Its representatives in Geneva, New York, Vienna and Athens attend UN meetings on behalf of FAWCO and focus on issues specifically related to women and children in the areas of education, environment, health and human rights. They also support the UN’s development agenda, the FAWCO Target Program, as well as other UN-related projects.
- SDG Chair: Provides information and training to FAWCO and Member Clubs to increase engagement with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Global Issues Teams
Reporting to the Third Vice President, the following Teams and committees promote education and awareness on important global issues, in particular FAWCO's four areas of focus: Education, Environment, Health, Human Rights.
- Education Team Chair: Provides information and resources on current issues in global education.
- Environment Team Chair: Informs members about environmental issues such as air, soil and water pollution, species extinction, energy efficiency, conservation and waste reduction, and the major issues of global climate change.
- Health Team Chair: Provides information on UN-related health topics and addresses health-related concerns, especially issues pertinent to women's health.
- Human Rights Team Chair: Advocates to ensure women's rights as well as economic and political empowerment for all women.
Target Program
The Target Program brings a critical global issue to the attention of FAWCO Clubs, their members and their host communities/countries and in so doing, assists in attaining one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Youth Program
This Program promotes cultural understanding and awareness in our youth and aims to develop them into responsible global citizens.
