This past weekend, one of FAWCO's founding clubs, AWC Berlin's celebrated its 80th anniversary with all 8 sister clubs from the region (Germany and Austria), with the attendance of the entire FAWCO Board. With 75+ member clubs spread throughout the world in 11 regions, FAWCO's Regional Meetings are a great way for club board members and club members to get to know FAWCO and network with sister clubs in the region. This weekend, Nov 11-13, Region 5 (Germany and Austria) held their meeting which had a great turn out of enthusiastic members in the region.
The beautiful and ever fascinating city of Berlin was the setting for the meeting, Region 5 Rocks! Margaret Spethmann (AWC Hamburg) presented a special session on new US tax & banking regulations for Americans living abroad. The session was very informative and demonstated further need for awareness and advocacy. Susanne Hirschberg then moderated the group on a working session of clubs and regional issues. The newest club to join FAWCO, Augsburg IWA e.V. was warmly welcomed and promptly volunteered to host the next region 5 meeting in 2012! Region 5 2011 was extra special this year, as the entire FAWCO board was able to attend the meeting which took place immediately after the FAWCO board meeting in Berlin. It was a fantastic opportunity for the clubs to meet the faces of FAWCO, and for the FAWCO Board to get first hand feedback from the clubs. Thank you Region 5 for a fantastic meeting!
