With great pleasure, FAWCO joins United Nations Volunteers (UNV) to celebrate International Volunteer Day on December 5th. This day was designated by the UN in 1985 to give thanks to UN volunteers around the world for their efforts. Across the world, UN Volunteers are working towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
FAWCO would like to thank all of our volunteers and highlight those that contribute directly to our work in helping the UN reach their MDGs: our Global Teams, clubs and members who have contributed to the Target Water Project, and The FAWCO Foundation - as volunteers and donors, you have contributed directly to the work of the United Nations.
FAWCO takes this opportunity to say Thank You! You are making a difference in the world.
In addition to advocating for the rights of our American expat members, FAWCO also gives back to the international community in the form of volunteerism. FAWCO volunteerism is the result of many individuals that give their time and their heart to make a difference in the world.
"We truly believe that volunteerism goes far beyond merely completing a given task. It creates and sustains bonds of trust and societal cohesion, and helps to forge a common sense of identity and destiny." - Flavia Pansieri, Executive Coordinator of United Nations Volunteers (UNV).
On this special day, FAWCO would like to thank all of our volunteers and celebrate their efforts. FAWCO Team Chairs are the back bone of FAWCO helping the UN reach its MDGs. The Target Program is another key contributing factor to FAWCO's work at the UN. Through her leadership, Anne Van Oorschot, Target Water Program Chair, has exceeded all expectations - in fundraising to benefit our current recipient Tabitha, Wells for Clean Water and more imporatantly, in raising our awareness about water sustainability.
International Volunteer Day was designated by the UN in 1985 and the aim of this activity is to give thanks to all volunteers around the world for their efforts. FAWCO takes this opportunity to say Thank You! to all of our volunteers from Team Chairs, to FAWCO clubs to the individuals who take part and work together to make a difference in the world.
