Human Rights: Advancing Dignity, Equality and Freedom for Women and Girls
FAWCO Target Program 6 focusing on Human Rights aims to support a transformative project that strengthens human rights for all and builds resilience, equality and freedom for women and girls, aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and other interconnected SDGs. The new project cycle was announced in March 2025 at our Annapolis Biennial Conference.

Human rights encompasses many topics, including but extending beyond FAWCO concerns for education, the environment and health. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) causes us to consider civic, political, social, economic, and cultural rights. These are wide-ranging and include issues such as freedom from slavery and torture, the right to asylum, the right to property, right to work, participation in government, right to freely engage in one’s religion, freedom for peaceable assembly, and more.
