FAWCO By-Laws Proposed Change - pending approval March 2012 AGM

FAWCO By-Laws Change Proposals - December 2011 (pending approval AGM March 2012)

It is the responsibility of the Bylaws and Administrative Guidelines Committee to process any proposed amendments to the Bylaws and relate them to the member clubs with three months' notice for a vote at the Conference (March 21-24, 2012).

In accordance with Article XVI, Amendments, we are asking you to consult with your Board and consider the following proposed change.

PROPOSED BY American Women of the Eastern Province (AWEP)

Article XIV - Financial Administration

Sec. 2. Financial Support

  1. Dues. The amount of the annual dues to be paid by member clubs shall be decided upon at each Biennial Conference and Interim Conference. All dues shall be payable by the last day of February.

Change: Addition of "and Interim Conference"

Reason for change:

After a careful analysis of FAWCO's dues structure, it was determined that from 2000-2011 FAWCO lost approximately $ 14,000 due to currency exchange.

This loss was due to three reasons:

  1. The average exchange rate per year from 2000 through 2011 reflected a 37% decrease in the US dollar over the Euro.
  2. Most of FAWCO's dues are received in US dollars, while most of the expenses are made in Euros.
  3. Expenses have gone up over the past 11 years, while dues have remained the same.

FAWCO is sensitive to the clubs need to keep dues to a minimum and has done a great job in not increasing dues over the past 11 years. However, the time has come where in order for the FAWCO Board to continue to serve the members in an efficient and productive manner, dues must be adjusted.

There are two ways this could be accomplished:

  1. keep the fees structure similar, but base the dues on the Euro instead of the US dollar, i.e. € 70, not $ 70. This would cover FAWCO from currency fluctuation, or
  2. increase dues 25% and re-evaluate the impact annually.
