As your Education Team wraps up its focus on Global Citizenship, schools are on break and the Northern Hemisphere has all summer in front of it. Check out a few quick takes from around the world AND close to home in education. We wish you a restful break and look forward to reconnecting in September!

* In honor of World Refugee Day on June 20, Graduate Women International (GWI)offered an Infographic highlighting the multiple facets of the plight of refugees. Learn more about facts vs. myths regarding refugees and how their plight ties to the SDGs. 

* Book bans continue to be a political hot potato in the United States. While Illinois became the first state in the Union prohibiting book bans for institutions receiving taxpayer funding, other states and school districts continue to succumb to a vocal minority. PEN America created an informative index of the the current book bans in the US. In response to the conflicted situation in the US, Mary Adams (AWC The Hague and Education Team member) reflected on the situation by penning this meaningul poem

*  As the conflict with Russia intensifies, the education of Ukrainian children continues to be an international concern. As reported by Theirworld: “The Global Business Coalition for Education, established by Theirworld, worked with HP and Microsoft to distribute 70,000 laptops and devices to students and teachers inside and outside Ukraine. It’s part of a total investment of almost $40 million that is reaching four million Ukrainian young people and teachers.”
