Janus – Looking Back and Moving Forward

by Jocelyn Fitzgerald and Sheila Doucet, FAWCO Environment Team Co-Chairs

JanusJanus, the Roman god of transitions, is often depicted as having two faces, symbolizing an ability to look both backwards into the past year’s accomplishments and forward into unannounced adventures yet to come. The Environment Team looks back with pride at the range of topics covered this past year in our Global Issues Digest (GID) articles. Feel free to once again peruse the wealth of information. You can scroll through all of our environment articles here.
..... and forward to adding new features – such as our successful movie night, which we plan to continue into the New Year. Keep an eye out for the announcements and feel free to share with your Club and friends in the community. Our first event of 2023 is:

It’s an exciting time for FAWCO as the current Target Program is focused on the Environment – always a timely issue. To follow all the details of the Target Program and Target Project, members can subscribe to the Target Bulletin on the FAWCO website. Voting for the new Target Project in the Clubs begins in January, so we all look forward to learning about the range of innovative solutions our candidates offer. Once a  project is selected, we will hear how creative people are helping spread the word about the cause – and having fun while raising funds. Every dollar, euro, pound, franc, kroner, rupee, peso raised will go to a worthy cause. The name of our partner organization will be announced during the FAWCO Conference to be held March 23–26 in Bratislava, Slovakia. Today isn’t too late to compare the CO2 impact of our travel plans and options.

From a behind-the-scenes look into COP 27 on January 26 to a “Meet & Greet” with our Environment Team members and a sampling of “Green Team” activities to a “No Mow May,” we look forward to sharing our enthusiasm for environmental issues in the coming months.

See you soon! Happy 2023 to you and yours!
