On March 18, 2013, to honor National Women's History Month, the US Embassy in Vienna Public Affairs Department, AWA Vienna and FAWCO drew attention to the issue of female oppression by sex trafficking and forced prostitution.
After the screening of a segment on prostitution in India from the PBS documentary “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide,” the diverse audience of about 100 members of the Vienna international community had lots of questions for the expert panel of NGO representatives. The panel included Joana Reiterer, founder of EXIT, an NGO supporting trafficked women in Vienna (www.NGOEXIT.org) and Tonya Teichert, co-chair of FAWCO's Team on Ending Violence Against Women and Children. The panel was moderated by Laurie Richardson, FAWCO's Vice President for Global Teams and FAWCO Representative, AWA Vienna.
