Would your club like to meet the Author of Harvesting Stones?
by Therese Hartwell
Did you know that FAUSA member and founder of The Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center (AODVC), Paula Lucas, is available to FAWCO clubs for “Meet the Author” sessions by Skype to discuss her recently published memoir, Harvesting Stones? Paula’s fascinating book details her astonishing life journey, starting when she escaped fifteen years ago from an abusive husband in Dubai, and concluding with the founding of AODVC from a women’s shelter.
Would your club be interested in learning about the limitations on services that consulates/embassies provide to women who experience domestic violence or sexual abuse while living or traveling overseas? Would your members like to know where women CAN turn for such help? Would they want to hear an inspiring story of a woman who turned tragedy into triumph? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, consider scheduling a Skype meeting with Paula Lucas.
I recently hosted Paula in person at my home in Houston and through a Skype call in Saudi Arabia for my FAWCO club. The women who attended both events found themselves mesmerized by Paula’s moving and inspiring cautionary tale. A Skype session works wonderfully for a club meeting, a special event, or a book discussion. Harvesting Stones is available from Amazon and as a download to a Kindle.
