by Karen Castellon, Co-Chair, FAWCO Human Rights Team, AWC Berlin, FAUSA

Refugees sunflowersAfter posting this article in March, we heard from FAWCO Representative Nancy Clayton of AWC Antwerp, who reported that the club was making monetary contributions to the following organizations:

WCK-World Central Kitchen* This is José Andrés’s American non-profit organization, which has chefs cook and prepare fresh food and warm meals for victims inside Ukraine as well as the refugees on the borders of Poland, Romania and Moldova:https://wck.org. (Author’s note: on April 18, 2022, CNN reported that a restaurant partner of World Central Kitchen had been hit by a Russian missile, which destroyed the facility in Kharkiv and injured four workers.)

Artsen Zonder Grenzen – Doctors without Borders: Surgeons and medical staff who are experienced with patients in wars and conflicts go into  Ukraine to perform surgeries and aid the wounded. They also work with their Mobile Clinics in the bordering countries, helping those who have been able to flee.
