The group volunteer project will be held in Amman before the Region 9 Meeting on December 3-4, with follow up on December 7. The project will involve painting, cleaning and organizing the community center of Collateral Repair Project (CRP),http://www.collateralrepairproject.org/, a small grassroots non-profit that supports refugees. Volunteers will work side-by-side with members of the refugee community and will be asked to donate at least $500 to CRP, through a personal donation, fundraising or sponsorship. Financial donations will be used to support CRP’s expansion into desperately needed additional space and to purchase supplies to complete the project.

Regional Meeting attendees are also invited to collect and bring to Amman donations of various items needed by refugees, including new or gently used clothing, shoes, small toys, and abayas. (Goods cannot be shipped into Jordan, due to stringent customs regulations.)  We will also collect cotton embroidery thread, small mesh cross-stitch canvas, crochet thread, felt, fabric, and sewing notions (either personal leftovers or new items) for donation to refugee women seeking economic empowerment through handicraft projects. For those not attending the conference, these items are light enough to be mailed to a central collection point. For details on the collection or the volunteer project, contact Therese Hartwell at
