Julia GoldsbyIntroducing FAWCO's first Youth Ambassador - Around the FAWCO World in 365 Days!

During 2014-15, Julia Meloy Goldsby, represented FAWCO Youth in a pilot program as a FAWCO Youth Ambassador. She assisted with volunteer programs, and encouraged sons and daughters of FAWCO members to get more involved in FAWCO's exciting opportunities for young people. FAWCO clubs hosting the Youth Ambassador benefitted from her energy and perspective.

Starting with the AWC Shanghai, Julia traveled the world as a FAWCO Youth Ambassador. She visited FAWCO clubs in Seoul, Dublin, Central Scotland, Oslo, Hamburg, Paris, Berlin, various cities in Morocco, Doha, Rome, and Athens, and served as a multi-media intern at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, for the NGO CSW Forum Beijing +20.

Before her year as the FAWCO Youth Ambassador, Julia, who is a now a member of AIWC Cologne, had participated in several FAWCO-related programs. She won the Clement's International Expat Youth Scholarship in 2009, attended the Eleanor Roosevelt Girls' Leadership Worldwide program in 2012, and participated in the 2013 FAWCO Youth Cultural Volunteers program in Dubai.

Now a freelance filmmaker and visual artist, Julia Meloy Goldsby graduated from the Cologne University of Applied Sciences in January 2019. Her FAWCO-inspired bachelor thesis film—about the Collateral Repair Project in Jordan—Unconditional Love, received the prize for best BA project in her graduating class.

Because of FAWCO’s influence, Julia has continued to produce films that explore the endeavors of women committed to positive change. Her future plans include film, photography, and illustration projects that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. “A film or a photograph can be both socially responsible and artistic. It’s my goal to throw light on the everyday heroes making small but positive steps to a better world. We need art; we need progress; we need hope.”
