Way back in 1994, members of the American Women’s Club in Stockholm formed the Stockholm Writers Group, or SWG. The idea: band together to help emerging writers become published authors. Each year, SWG travelled to different international events supporting writers and after each trip asked the same question: “Why don't we have this in Stockholm?”
In 2017, they took action and established the Stockholm Writers Festival (SWF), a non-profit organization with a mission to help writers, “find their path to published.” The three-day event features international authors across genres who lead workshops on both craft and the business side of publishing. SWF also hosts international literary agents to whom ticket holders can pitch during the festival. Most importantly, we bring together a community of writers, making what can be an isolating endeavor less so. Our 7th annual event takes place this year at the beautiful Historiska Museet in downtown Stockholm, August 23–25, and ticketing opens on March 25.
