FAWCO's delegation to CSW61 is getting ready to participate in a particularly important CSW in March. On March 12, many of us will attend NGO Consultation Day, where UN Liaison Laurie Richardson will help facilitate a working group on Ending All Forms of Forced Labour, Early Marriage, and Trafficking. FAWCO is co-sponsoring a parallel event on Monday March 13 with the NGO Committee on Migration and the World Organization for Early Childhood Education (OMEP) on "Empowerment of Women in Migration: Impact on Their Children’s Educational Outcomes and Resilience." FAWCO will sponsor a event on March 14, “Empowerment Through Film: Women Documentary Filmmakers as Catalysts for Social Change” with Chicken & Egg Pictures.
FAWCO signed a Written Statement submitted to CSW61 on Women's economic empowerment, together with other members organizations of the NGO CSW Vienna. You can read the statement posted on the UN website of official documents submitted to the session. FAWCO also joined a group of women's NGOs in signing a Written Statement by Graduate Women International, included in the UN CSW official documentation here.
We will post blogs from New York between March 13 – 24 on the website, and report on CSW61 in the April UN Liaison Bulletin.
