While Lucretia Mott, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucy Stone, Susan B. Anthony, Carrie Chapman Catt, and Alice Paul are without question the principals in the story of women’s suffrage in the United States, many other women played important and prominent roles in the effort. This article does not pretend to be complete, but it will provide the reader with a sense of the magnitude of the fight for the Nineteenth Amendment, and the caliber of the women who fought that fight.
