Imagine what Mother's Day was like in Nigeria...
As we celebrated motherhood this month, who could fail to feel the pain of the mothers of the hundreds of Nigerian girls who were recently kidnapped while taking their final exams? Imagine your daughter being abducted and perhaps raped or even killed simply for going to school. We must ask ourselves, "What if it was my daughter?" Through the internet and social media, the world is speaking out, and you can add your voice. One way you can help is to sign the petition HERE. In addition, to help continue to spread the word and put pressure on the Nigerian government, visit #BringBackOurGirls and take a stand!
Later this week, the UN Special Envoy for Global Education, Gordon Brown, will travel to Nigeria and demand action from leaders to secure the return of the missing girls, taking this petition with him. In honor of mothers everywhere, please add your name to the petition and share it with your friends and family. It only takes a moment but could make a big difference for these mothers and daughters. If you are interested in other simple ways to help, check out Girl Rising's action kit HERE.
